A crown is a cap that is placed over a tooth to restore its shape and function. They can be made from a variety of materials including porcelain, ceramic, and gold. Before the crown is fitted the tooth is prepared and shaped, impressions are taken and once the crown is ready, it is cemented in place over the tooth.
